The topic for week 5 of my Health Education and Promotion (GCH 350) course is, “The Settings for Health Education/Promotion.”

Based on questions that I have received mentoring students, I chose to ground this lecture in my own professional career in order to provide real-world examples of the diverse career pathways available to Health Educators. I intentionally highlight the breadth of professional opportunities within the field by sharing my own career trajectory.  As a military spouse who has relocated every two to three years, I model adaptability, lifelong learning, and professional resilience, demonstrating that it is possible to remain engaged in the profession while serving in a wide range of roles across settings.

By transitioning my lecture to a Prezi format, I intentionally model for students the importance of connecting with a target population and thoughtfully selecting instructional methods that align with diverse learning styles.  This design choice demonstrates that effective education begins with knowing one’s audience and adapting communication strategies to enhance engagement and understanding.
